The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is definitely on the warpath against the erring governors who were allegedly trying to displace him from his position. The party chairman said he would not condone or succumb to their impunity and shenanigans.
Oshiomole said contrary to insinuations and accusations going around that he was out to the liquidate the party, his mission was to craft the party into a well-disciplined and formidable political behemoth in the federation.
The increased efforts from some of these governors were instrumental to the party chairman’s outburst on Monday. According to reliable sources, 15 out of the 21 governors in APC are amassing signatures that will enable them to impeach him at the NEC meeting.
The governors will be converging tomorrow at Abuja for the final phase of their plot.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, the APC Chairman said the party will never surrender its constitutionally-backed functions to any entity.
Instead, it will reach out to the divergent factions and attend to their grievance for the sake of the party’s continued success.
According to Oshiomole, the stakeholders should be put their minds at rest since the party is on a sure-footed path to victory.
In reaction to harsh criticism from some of the governors elected on APC’s platform, Oshiomole said only the party, not the false political powers of the state, has the power to oversee the primary elections and choose the right candidate.
In addition to this, Oshiomole said he did not become the national chairman of the governing party to destroy its golden standards. He also dished out blames to the “conservative elements” in the party for leading the plot to pass a vote of no confidence on him.
The party chairman insists that their bone of contention stems from the fact that he placed much emphasis on party discipline and supremacy.
