  • Shops remain locked despite judgement favouring the incumbent.

The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate in the September 2018 election, Ademola Adeleke contesting the election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Delivering the judgment, Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour declared that the absence of the judge who read the majority decision of the election tribunal, Justice Peter Obiorah on one of the hearings renders the entire proceedings a nullity.

The judge, therefore, upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal that the proper thing to have done in the absence of Justice Peter Obiorah was to start the entire trial afresh.

Meanwhile, Osogbo, Osun State capital and some major towns in the state remained calm after the Supreme Court judgement on Friday morning.

It was gathered that some shops remained closed as they did not open for business in Olaiya, Odiolowo and Fagbewesa within Osogbo metropolis.

This could be a result of anxiety of the judgement.

‘Progressives God’

Reacting to the court judgement, Osuns state APC said: “The Progressive God that Osun people serve heard their prayers and granted their request.”
