— Ahead of the state’s Tribunal judgement on Friday, the Police force has decided to increase the security of the state, to prevent any mayhem.
— The Tribunal is set to hold on Friday, March 22, 2019.
Osun State’s spokesperson, DSP Folashade Odoro, has spoken on behalf of the force, and has commanded all police officers to be at alert to prevent any person who tries to perpetuate the state’s law and order on the said day.
The Tribunal judgement, set for Friday, was moved from Osogbo in November 2018, to Abuja, has finally been fixed to hold on Friday, March 22, 2019.
The case was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, and its candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who questioned the victory of the All Progressive Congress candidate, Governor Gboyeya Oyetola, at the last Governorship election.
Senator Adeleke had led the first ballot before losing the second and final after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared that the slim margin was not enough to return him, and declared the election inconclusive.
INEC later fixed a runoff for September 30, 2018, where Governor Gboyega Oyetola eventually emerged victorious.
According to the media aid of the state’s police, DSP Folashade Odoro, “ The commissioner of Police fortified security to avoid any breakdown of law and order .
“ Officers have been placed on red alert and are pro – active to prevent any kind of violence or demonstration in the state.
“ We will, however , want to urge people of the state to maintain law and order and go about their lawful businesses without fear. ’’
Kunle Oyatomi, who is the Director of Publicity and Strategy for the All Progressive Party, APC, also remarked that, “party is very optimistic. We expect to win. We have no fear whatsoever to believe that the judgement will be negative.”
