Pepe Scores Two Stunning Free Kicks As Reply To All Bants

Nicolas Pepe scored two stunning freekicks to erase his name from all bants that has been directed towards North London this term.

The Ivorian came on for Alexandre Lacazette and found the net twice to give his side all three points against relatively unknown Portuguese side, Vitoria.

Arsenal got off on the wrong foot, arguably their worst start this season as ex-Tottenham player, Marcus Edwards put Vitoria ahead.

However, Gabriel Martinelli dragged his side into the game after converting a cross from Kieran Tierney.

The visitors then went ahead again through Bruno Duarte following a defensive gaffe by Maitland-niles before Pepe scored twice to seal the game in favour of Arsenal.

The summer record signing for Arsenal came into the game 15minutes to the end of the encounter and turned the game on its head.

With 80 minutes on the clock, it felt like the Gunners were headed for their second defeat in three days.

They have now made it three wins out of three to sit chiefly atop Group F.

Although it was a remarkable win for the Gunners, the comeback only papered over the cracks.

This was supposed to be walk in the park for the Gunners but they struggled like they weren’t a top-tier club managed by a coach in the shape of Unai Emery.

Their visitors who had come into the game bottom of the group went ahead first and then again. They looked like they were running away with all three points till some late magic from former Lille winger, Nicolas Pepe.

There was no form of creativity in Arsenal’s first forty-five minutes and it was glaring why a player like Mesut Ozil, a genuine playmaker should be in the mix.

There were boos and chants ringing round the Emirates, crying for Ozil to be thrown into the mix.

As expected, all fell on deaf ears. Unai Emery will be glad he can still keep his job and perhaps delay what looks quite inevitable in the end.
