Chelsea legend and Arsenal goalkeeper, Petr Cech, is poised to retire at the end of the season. The ex-Czech Republic International has won all the trophies available to an English side including the UEFA Champions league.

The Chelsea legend has won a total of four premier league titles, the Champions league and the Europa league during his stint at the London club.

He went on to play for Arsenal thereafter. He completed this transfer in the year 2015.

Petr Cech announced his decision on his twitter account this morning. He said after taking a look at successful 20 years career, he felt it was the right time to retire and hang his gloves.

Worthy of note is that the 36-year old suffered a skull injury (fracture) in the year 2006. This came in the match against Reading. Since then, the goalkeeper has consistently worn a headguard to guide against a reoccurrence.

The 36-yr old arrived Chelsea from Rennes in the year 2004. Since then, he has gone on to win 13 trophies with the West London Club, set a record of 228 clean sheets in all competitions.

After a dip-in-form however, the former Czech Republic International lost his place to Thibaut Courtois. A move to Arsenal then became imminent.

He moved to Arsenal in the year 2015 and was the main goalie for the North London club. Nonetheless, a couple of poor performances meant he losing his place to Berd Leno.

Being his side’s second keeper, the legend still has a chance of leading Arsenal on to challenge in the Europa league and FA Cup.

Point often overlooked, Arsenal will be facing a tough opposition in Manchester United for the next round of the FA Cup. Notwithstanding, they could come out of that one with a win.

The 36-year old’s retirement will see the end of the road for one of the most successful and significant goalkeeper and indeed figure of the Premier League era.
