#PHCSerialKiller: Police Arrest Two Over Hotels Serial Killings

  • At least eight women have been killed in hotels in Rivers state since July.
  • Police insist that hotels must get the profile of clients and their CCTV mu be installed.

Men of the Nigerian Police Force have arrested two suspects in connection with hotel serial killings in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

Recently, a young girl was killed in a hotel in a hotel situated in Obo Road, Omoku, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State and the hotel management could not fish out her murderer.

iDONSABI reports that the teenager’s corpse was found lying with her clothes in the hotel room. Her hands were tied behind her back with a white cloth, as well as her legs and neck.

According to reports, at least eight women have been strangled to death in different hotel rooms in Nigeria’s oil-producing state since July.

The outrage has led to protests which massive social media campaign – using the hashtags #ProtectPHWomen and #ProtectPhGirls, #PHCSerialKiller and so on demanding that the authorities do more to stop them.

According to the Police, a man was arrested after a tip-off that he had offered around $80 (£70) to spend the night with a woman and the other suspect was arrested in Kaduna State.

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura said a special task force which includes police personnel, hotel associations and tourism board has been set up to improve security at hotels.

According to him, any hotel in the state found not to comply with new guidelines, which include installing CCTV cameras and asking guests for documentation when registering, would be closed down.
