Police Arrest Islamic Cleric for Allegedly Raping Physically Challenged Teenager

The unfortunate event occurred at at the popular Mosque located at Ilasamaja area of Lagos.

Reporters gathered that the arrest of the suspected cleric was based on an intensive manhunt by the police team led by the Area Commander, Zone D Mushin, ACP A. Olasoji, before he was eventually apprehended.
Reports have it that the incident took place last week Monday right inside a Mosque when the suspected cleric took advantage of the girl by raping her without consideration for her physical challenges.
The girl’s mother carried her to the General Hospital in the area when she became aware of her daughter’s fate. At the General Hospital, she was checked and treated.

The case was reported at Zone D Police Command, Mushin, and the cleric was said to have gone into hiding and was at large.
Following futile attempts to locate the cleric by men of the police force, the policemen arrested the Imam and some Alfas from the Mosque in order for them to produce the cleric who perpetrated the act.
When pressmen visited Area D Command, Mushin, where the report was filed to know the situation of things, the Area Commander, ACP Olasoji was not around to give insights into the matter.
However, a Police source confirmed the authenticity of the story and the source also disclosed that had indeed been on the run but he has since been aarrested and detained at the Command.
The source said that the suspect may be transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further investigation from where he will be charged to court.
It is believed that if found guilty, the cleric may spend a lot of years in jail.
