Police Intercept 17 Sacks Containing Thumb-Printed Ballots In Kano State

Just barely 48 hours to the Presidential election, operatives of the Police Command in Kano State today, February 14, impounded 17 sacks containing thumb-printed ballot papers in Sabon Gari area of Kano.

iDONSABI gathers from some credible sources that the ballots have already been thumb-printed on the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC box.

According to reports also, the ballot boxes which have been nabbed by operatives of the Police Command in Kano are being transported to the Kano command headquarters for further investigations to be carried out.

However, in a quick response today, the Kano state police command, through its spokesman identified as Haruna Abdullahi, stated that the ballot papers which were nabbed were not genuine but ‘specimen’ and were not thumb-printed as claimed by other close reports in the state.

Haruna Abdullahi, the spokesman for Kano State Police Command also revealed that during the interrogation of the suspects, the Kano State Police command discovered that the ballot papers were Jigawa State bound to be used to enlighten the voters on how to go about voting during the Presidential elections set to happen on Saturday, February 16.

Mr Haruna Abdullahi, the spokesman for Kano State Police Command said in a statement:

“Let me categorically state that the ballot papers are not thumb-printed and not real. They are just specimen to enlighten voters in Jigawa State.”

Mr Haruna Abdullahi also stressed that the two suspects that were apprehended confessed that the ballot papers were on transit to Dutse, Jigawa State capital, with the intention to distribute to the rural areas for election enlightenment and not to rig the elections in the favour of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
