Police Operatives Apprehends Female-Led Robbery Gang In Lagos State

Police operatives in Lagos state have apprehended members of a female-led armed robbery gang whose job is to rob Uber drivers of their vehicles in Lagos state.

While parading two of the gang members identified to be Zino Tochukwu Ude and Anumelechi Chris Williams respectively, before the public, the state police commissioner identified as Edgal Imohimi, stated that the female member is currently in police custody and is helping with investigations to apprehend more of the members.

CP Edgal Imohimi stated that on January 19th at about 11.30 am, an Uber driver picked a female passenger from Oniru to Orchid Hotel by 2nd Toll-gate, Lekki.

Unknown to the Uber driver, the woman belonged to a gang of armed robbers. On their way to the woman’s destination, the woman requested the Uber Driver to stop, in order for her to collect money from her boyfriend.

While the Uber driver was waiting for the woman, three armed men came out from her destined location and robbed the driver of his Toyota Corolla car with Reg. No. KRD-827-EY, along with his two phones and a cash sum of N20, 000.00.

CP Edgal Imohimi statement read:

“On receipt of the report, operatives of SARS, Oshodi-Tapa, Lagos Island base, swung into action and visited the scene of incident, where they picked objects of evidential value for analysis. The result of the enquiry led to the arrest of two of the suspects involved in the crime, namely: Zino Tochukwu Ude ‘m’ and Anumelechi Chris Williams ‘m’ and the recovery of their operational arms: a cut to size double barrel gun with two live cartridges.

“During interrogation, they confessed to the crime and aided operatives to recover the stolen car. They equally confessed to series of car snatching operations in Lagos and other contiguous States. They also led the operatives to recover one Honda Saloon Car with Reg. No. GGE-954-BQ which they snatched in Delta State”

Further actions are still being taken to apprehend more gang members by the Police.
