– The President stated that the killings are unfortunate

Nigerian Pres., Muhammadu Buhari via a statement released on his behalf by his spokesperson on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has expressed his sadness over the report of Easter day killings in Gombe state.

According to the reports, there was killings during the Easter procession on Sunday night in Gombe which included some Christian youths and a reprisal killing of law enforcement officials allegedly responsible for the tragic incident.

Pres. Buhari in his condolence message reached out to the Families of the deceased as he termed the incident unfortunate while wishing the several that were injured a speedy recovery.

He also joined the Gombe state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN and the state government in appealing for calm and peace in the state.

Garba Shehu in a statement said, “Joining the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Gombe State chapter, and the State Government in appealing for calm, President Buhari also decried the reckless driving as well as “quick resort to self-help and mob action.”

We must always be mindful of the peaceful action of others while resisting the urge to take the laws into our hands notwithstanding the gravity of provocation,” the President added.

The President also applauded the leaderships of the police and the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for the steps they took in bringing the situation under control, as he promised that there would be further investigations into the sad incident.

President Buhari in a final statement madsupplicationsns to God to comfort the bereaved families and grant rest to the souls of the departed victims.
