– Pres. Muhammadu Buhari in a statement in Ibadan vows to continue the fight against corruption if re-elected

– The President noted that corruption has been the main challenge in the country from time past

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in the Oyo state capital, Ibadan for his 2019 Presidential Campaign.

Prior to commencing his campaign in the state, Pres. Muhammdu Buhari was hosted by the 103 royal fathers in the state led by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Adetunji Saliu and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building Secretariat in Ibadan.

The President during his statement with the royal fathers made it known that his government will continue to fight corruption as against the 16 years misrule led by the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.

He disclosed that his government in the past several months have taken bold steps to ensure integrity and transparency in the processes of government ”and holding those who have plundered our commonwealth to account for their actions.”

President Buhari added that the case of corruption has been a major challenge in the country from time past, he said, “the costs of recovery and sanctions are also enormous. While commendable successes have been recorded, it has become manifest that corruption fights back. With enormous stolen resources elements have attempted to compromise law enforcing institutions and pervert the course of justice.”

“This realization highlights the necessity of building a system that focuses on preventing corruption. We continue to implement policies aimed at building resilient systems that can withstand assault by corrupt officials.”

The PDP presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari also used the moment to further solicit for votes from the people of the state ahead of the 2018 General election slated for February 16.
