Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Acting President, on Tuesday took a flight to London to see President Muhammadu Buhari who has been on medical vacation for close to two months now.
This is coming barely 24 hours after the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari had raised the hope that Buhari will soon come back to the country.
Unofficial report has it that Osinbanjo was summoned by President Buhari to London. Osinbajo flew out of Abuja soon after presiding over the Quarterly Presidential Business Forum on Tuesday morning at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on media and publicity, Laolu Akande, initially denied the trip saying that the Acting President would only be traveling to Lagos. However, when he realized that State House correspondents had knowledge of it, he later confirmed in a tweet on his twitter handle, @akandeoj that Osinbajo has indeed left for London on the president’s summons without providing details.
Nonetheless, he said the Acting President would return to Abuja immediately thereafter without also giving specific date.
According to the tweet, “AGP Osinbajo meeting with President Buhari in London today, and returning to Abuja immediately afterwards,” Akande tweeted. It expected that he would return to Abuja in time preside over Wednesday’s to meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
