Presidential Election : Atiku and three other Presidential Candidates Question Buhari’s re-election

– Three candidates in the February 23 presidential election have all submitted petition to the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja, and has demanded that the tribunal should declare the results of the election as null and void.

–All four parties have now challenged the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and his re-election for the second term.

Before now, only the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have filed their petition before the Presidential Election Tribunal.

At the moment, three other presidential candidates are questioning the reelection of the President. Chief Ambrose Owuruof the Hope Democratic Party, HDP; Aminchi Habu of the Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM,and Geff Chizee Ojinka of the Coalition for Change, C4C, has urged the tribunal to declare the results of the election as null and void.

In their individual petitions, they challenged the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari, alleged that the election was characterised by manifest irregularities, adding that the Electoral Act was not substantially complied with by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

On Wednesday,, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has filed a petition marked as CA/ PEPC/002/2019, questioning the election of President Muhammadu Buhari being elected for the second term.

The Peoples Democratic Movement candidate, Aminchi Habu, in his petition registered as CA/PEPC/004/2019, challenged the outcome of the presidential poll.

Hope Democratic Party’s flag bearer, Chief Ambrose Owuru, also has his petition marked as CA/ PEPC/001/2019, accused the All Progressives Congress and the Independent National Electoral Commission as Respondents.

Equally, the Coalition for Change and its presidential candidate, Ojinka, in its own petition marked CA/PEPC/003/2019, also urged the electoral tribunal to nullify Buhari’s re-election.

The four petitions were on display at the Court of Appeal in Abuja , the venue of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal .
