PSV face a tough test at home on Wednesday as they host Tottenham Hotspur at the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven. The Champions league has been a regular competition fpr the Dutch champions and they will want to do a good job by winning against a good Tottenham side that boasts the likes of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen.
A defeat for either side will leave them unable to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition. Having already lost to Barcelona and Inter Milan, both teams will be willing to take advantage of the back to back matches at both their stadia.
Domestically, PSV have scored 36 goals in 9 games this season with Hirving Lozano and Luuk De Jong both scoring 8 goals each. Lozano has been strongly linked with a transfer to the Premier League with Tottenham said to hold an interest in the Mexico international, and the 23-year-old will be motivated to make an impact on Wednesday night.
PSV Eindhoven’s Ryan Thomas is injured with a serious knee problem, but Coach Van Bommel should be able to name his strongest starting lineup for the visit of the Spurs
Possible PSV Eindhoven starting lineup includes the following players…..
Zoet; Dumfries, Schwaab, Viergever, Angelino; Rosario, Hendrix, Pereiro; Lozano, Bergwijn, De Jong.
Spurs have enjoyed a strong start to their Premier League campaign, with seven wins from nine matches leaving the club just two points shy of Manchester City and Liverpool’s points.
They were outmatched in their encounter with Barcelona in the last group D match , losing 4-2 to the visitors. Messi was the class act for the day scoring and assiting goals the entire match.
Tottenham know a win is a must if they must qualify for the next round after losses to both Barcelona and Inter Milan. And Pochettino will be looking to use all options available to him to achieve that aim.
