Put An End To This False Imprisonment of Sanusi, Adeyanju Urges Buhari

Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has called ln President Muhammadu Buhari to stop what he described as false imprisonment of former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido.

While nothing that the governor, Abdullahi Ganduje doesn’t control the security forces, he said the president can allow the former monarch to get his freedom.

After his dethronement, Sanusi was banished to Awe Local Government in Nassararwa State.

According to the tradition of the Kano Emirate, dethroned Emirs are usually banished fro their territory fr security purpose. But according to lawyers, it is against the law, which restricts his freedom to move.

His lawyers which had given Ganduje to release the former Central Bank Governor or face a legal battle with them, because Sanusi had wanted to be banished to Lagos.

“Ganduje does not control Police & DSS who are detaining SLS, Mr. President must put an end to this false imprisonment now. It is barbaric to be doing this in 2020,” Adeyanju tweeted.

It could be recalled that the Presidency had reacted to his dethronement, saying it doesn’t interfere in state affairs.
