According to a recent report, the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje yesterday took a new move that will bring about change in the traditional rulership in the state.
Gov. Ganduje yesterday signed into law the Emir’s Appointment and Disposition Amendment law.
According to report, the new law was created to decentralized the powerful Kano Emirate Council.
With this new law signed into bill, Kano state will no longer have one emirate overseeing the affairs of the 40 local government areas in the state but five Emirate henceforth.
The new law effectively reduced the influence of the Emir of Kano and former Central Bank of Nigeria CBN Governor, Alh. Mohammed Sanusi II.
