Rennes Vs Arsenal Europa League 06 March Preview

Arsenal will go on a trip to France where they will be poised to face Rennes in the last 16 of the Europa League. The Roazhon Park would play host to two clubs who have had a rich history of French players.

Rennes

Rennes are a potential dark horse in this year’s competition and had to make it through to this stage via a number of qualifying matches.

Although they fell to three defeats in four games during this period, they have now gone unbeaten in four matches and have secured the scalp of Real Betis.

Rennes were the underdogs in the match-up with Betis but they went ahead to run a 3-1 riot over the Spanish side in Spain and have proven themselves to be a tough nut to crack and no pushovers by any standards or measure.

Hatem Ben Arfa and Ismaila Sarr are their biggest attacking threats and would pose a lot of problems for a porous Gunners backline.

Arsenal

Thanks to a terrific performance in the second leg match up against Bate Borisov, Arsenal wouldn’t be holding anymore talks about the Europa league.

After the 3-0 win against the Belarusian Champions, the Gunners have improved in the goal scoring department, going on to record seven goals in the fixtures against Southampton and Bournemouth.

Emery has been rewarded with good results since opting for a tactic that sees him field either of Aubameyang or Lacazette rather than the pair all at once.

Infact, they would consider themselves unlucky not to have recorded a win against Spurs with Aubameyang missing a spotkick. They adorn the favourites tag coming into this game and would be looking to justify that tag.
