Rihanna Sues Father On Fenty Copyright Grounds

American popstar, Rihanna is suing her father for misuse of her brand name, Fenty. She claims she alone has the rights to use the brand name but her father has gone ahead to use it without her permission.

According to TMZ, She’s accusing her dad, Ronald of illegally setting up his talent development company, named Fenty Entertainment using her copyright name.

The pop star claims that her father who doubles as her business partner falsely posed his company as a representative of her’s.

Consequently, the conduct has misled the public into thinking that she is connected to the firm whereas she is not, she claims.

Ronald according to her has been making money off the Fenty name without her authorization.

The singer’s team also claimed that they sent out several notes of warning to her dad to desist from the use of the brand name. However, her father will not bulge.

The lawsuit therefore requests the court to ban Ronald from using the brand name. He would also be injuncted by the  court to pay for name damages.

Rihanna has had a difficult relationship with her dad. She has complained severally about her father’s battles with drugs and drinks.

However, the pair have gotten back together in recent past.

The Barbadian singer was born in Saint Michael, Barbados, and raised in Bridgetown. The singer rose to world fame in 2005 when she released the album, Music of the Sun. She followed it up with the release of another album, A Girl like me, in the year 2006 with both albums peaking within the top ten of the US Billboard 200.

She is a singer, businesswoman, diplomat, actress, dancer, songwriter with a networth of 260million dollars. The ‘good girl gone bad’ won her first Grammy in the year 2008. In addition to this, she has nine Grammy awards to her credit.

The pop icon is regarded as one of the best selling music artistes of all time.
