– Rivers Election: Gov. Nyesom Wike and four other Governorship candidates to sign peace accord next week
– This is to help beat down violence that may want to mar the Governorship election in the state
According to a new report, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who is vying for a second term in office will sign a peace accord with four other Governorship candidates from four political parties.
The announcement was made public by Mr. Ibifiri Bob-Manuel, who is the Pres. of Rivers state Investor and the Chairman of Rivers Debate Group in Port Harcourt yesterday, he disclosed their preparedness to conduct the 2019 Rivers Governorship Debate alongside partners which include, CoolWazobiaFM, Silverbird TV, Enough is Enough among others.
Mr. Bob-Manuel revealed that the peace accord which would be signed by the Governorship candidates would be done in the presence of European Union representatives and other International organisations and communities.
The candidates of five political parties to sign the Peace Accord include, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, African Democratic Party, ADP, Labour Party, LP, Accord Party, and Social Democratic Party, SDP.
According to the reports, the peace accord would be signed after the Governorship debate on Tuesday.
A report made it known that the peace accord became necessary to help beat down any form violence that may want to mar the Governorship election in the state.
With the Presidential Election already, concluded, the independent National Electoral Commission INEC will now shift it focus to the Governorship and state assembly election which is scheduled to take place next week Saturday on the 9th of March.
However, Governorship election will not be taking place in all the states, states like Osun and Ekiti have done their Governorship elections last year.
