Ronaldo Insists Messi Has Made Him A Better Footballer

Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have gone head-to-head as the best players all across the world for a decade now creating a distinct divide between football fans as to who is the better of the two but Ronaldo admits that Messi has no doubt made him a better player.

Last campaign, Messi admitted to missing the competition between he and his Portuguese rival after Ronaldo left Madrid for Juventus.

According to Ronaldo, their achievements and performances have only helped them raise their game to extraordinary heights with both laying unique claims to the ‘Greatest of all time’ tag.

Both footballers have dominated the footballing scene in the last decade. In fact, before Luka Modric surprisingly claimed the 2018 Balon D’Or, the duo of Messi and Ronaldo ha both shared the preceding ten.

Football fans must consider themselves extra lucky to live in the same era with these footballing greats. The Argentine and Portuguese superstars are perhaps even more excited that they played in the same era having driven themselves to the very peak.

And this is an idea, Ronaldo quite agrees with.

“I really admire the career he has had and from his side, he has already talked of the disappointment when I left Spain because it was a rivalry that he appreciated,” Ronaldo told TVI in Portugal.

“It’s a good rivalry but it’s not unique — Michael Jordan had rivalries in basketball, there was Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in Formula 1. The thing they all had in common is that they were healthy rivalries.”, he said.

“I have no doubt that Messi has made me a better player and vice-versa. When I am winning trophies it must sting him and it’s the same for me when he wins.”

Despite fans of both players drooling over each of them and attempting to create strife between them via their continual social media attacks on each other, Ronaldo insists he has a health professional relationship with Messi.

“I have an excellent professional relationship because we have been sharing the same moments for 15 years,” the Portuguese superstar added.

“We’ve never had dinner together but I don’t see why we can’t in the future. I don’t see a problem with that.”
