#SayNoToSocialMediaBill Trends As Nigerians Protest

Many Nigerians have started a protest against the Social Media Bill which has been read for the second time at the Nigerian assembly and may soon be passed into law.

The bill is to regulate social media use by the government so that every post made will be scrutinized.

Many have reacted to this demanding that it shouldn’t be passed to law. The number of people protesting also increased after a video of Senator Elisha Abbo defending the bill surfaced online.

In July, the senator was caught on camera assaulting a lady in a sex toy shop and this video went viral online.

The hashtag #SayNoToSocialMediaBill  currently trends on Twitter as Nigerians protest against the bill and encourage others to speak against it by signing a petition.
