SDP Presidential Candidate, Donald Duke to commence Campaign next week
– The Presidential Candidate of the SDP, Donald Duke today declared he would commence campaign next week
– He hinted that the delay was owing to the litigations on who is the presidential candidate of the SDP
Former Gov. Of Cross River state and the Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP has refused to step down from the 2019 Presidential race.
According to Donald Duke in a statement with the press in Lagos State today, he disclosed that he would commence his presidential campaign next week, which is coming too late owing to the delayed judgment on who is the right presidential candidate of the SDP.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Thursday declared Donald Duke the Presidential Candidate of the SDP for the Presidential election expected to take place on the 16th of February.
This latest judgment by the Court of Appeal comes against the judgment of the Federal Capital Territory High Court led by Justice Abdul Aboki on 14th December, 2018, which declared former Min. of Information as the right candidate of the SDP.

Donald Duke, however, hinted that if the Court of Law had named Jerry Gana as the presidential candidate of the party, he would step down and work with him.
Duke in his statement disclosed that he might have lost time over the proceedings but “it will not in any way stall my progress or affect my victory at the polls.”
He added that arrangements have been concluded for him to “kick-start a very smart campaign that will reach the electorate across the nation.”
The former Gov. also disclosed that his campaign will be different from the conventional ones but it will be very effective.
He finally added that, “Nigerians are yearning for an alternative platform and we intend to position ourselves as that alternative that the people crave for.”
