I will rather die sleeping on the cold floor in this harsh harmattan weather, than be caged inside the warm building at the DSS facility
Senator Dino Melaye, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday night, slept on the cold floor at the Department of State Services, DSS, medical facility.
Recall, that on Friday afternoon, Senator Dino Melaye who had been in the custody of the Nigeria Police, was transferred from the Police Hospital in Abuja, and brought to the DSS medical facility.
Also recall, that Senator Dino Melaye is expected to stand trial over allegations of his culpability in the attack of a Police officer, an allegation which Melaye has since denied. Recently, the Senator’s house was besieged, electricity and food supply cut off, while tear gas was allegedly fired until the Senator collapsed upon his surrender.
Melaye, who suffered an asthma attack because of the police brutality, has insisted that he needs more time to recuperate — a plea which the Nigeria Police described as ‘feigned illness’.
It was gathered, that Melaye refused to enter the facility, without a credible explanation, as to why the DSS was involved in a police matter.
