Sevilla Vs Levante LaLiga 26th January Review

Sevilla swept Levante away in a match bathed with goals, hence, ending their winless run in four games. What makes it the more enthralling is that all goals were scored in the second half.

Sevilla had no time for jokes – not now – as they came to make a bold statement knowing that a win here would see them occupy third place on the log.

Machin’s men were full of confidence coming into this game after beating table toppers, Barcelona by two goals when they met on Wednesday in the first leg encounter of their quarter finals tie.

That said, recall also that the last time these two sides met. Sevilla shoved aside a Levante side by 6 goals to 2. Let’s leave out stats and get down to the talking points.

The first half was barren with both sides struggling to see the ball at the back of their opponent’s net.

However, the second half was very much all Sevilla could pray for. Just three minutes into the second 45 minutes, Wissam Ben Yedder fired the ball into the bottom corner from what was a very tight angle.

Levante responded almost immediately with a shot by Enis Bardhi only for it to take a wide deflection and head for the upright.

Soon after, Andres Silva with nine goals this season extended his tally to ten. There were no signs of slowing down as rampaging Sevilla increased their goal advantage to four with a goal from Franco Vazquez and another by Pablo Sarabia from the penalty spot.

The Andalusians got another spotkick and Sarabia handed the ball to Quincy Promes to nail what would be his first goal in the league for Spain’s oldest sporting club.

Promes saw his penalty saved but quickly got off to score the rebound making it five goals for the Andalusians

Machin’s men now occupy third place on the log level with Spanish giants, Real Madrid who have a game in hand.
