Social Media Bill: Once People Report Fake News, There Should Be Consequence – Abiara

Prophet Samuel Abiara, the General Overseer of Christ Apostolic Church Vineyard of Comfort popularly known as CAC Agbara Itura has backed efforts made by the National Assembly to regulate the social media.

While stating that the efforts were not aimed at gagging freedom of speech but to fight fake news and sensationalism that could destroy the nation, he added that the social media must not be allowed to operate without regulation.

Speaking with journalists ahead of the Jesus Festival International 2019 with the theme ‘Help from above,’ which ends today at the Ibadan headquarters of the church, he said the privilege offered by the social media has been abused.

The prophet added that there is a need for social media regulation in order not to set the nation on fire.
