Solskjaer Eager To See Lingard Back To Being A Top Midfielder

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shared his eagerness to see Jesse Lingard return to his best form, with the midfielder showing glimpses of excellent performances he put up in December.

According to the Norwegian gaffer, the Englishman is working hard to get back on track.

Questions have been asked of the abilities of Jesse Lingard after the England International failed to hit any goals or make an assist in 2019.

The midfielder is currently on books till 2021 and although the Red devils have an option of extending his contract by another year, it has been suggested in many quarters that he might be moved on to another club in the winter.

It is also speculated that the attacker has made Paul Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola his, as well, fuelling even further speculations that he could be heading out of Old Trafford.

He played no part in the Red devil’s 0-0 draw at Molineux stadium against Wolves due to an illness. However, he is poised to return for the club and could feature in United’s Carabao Cup semifinal against city rivals, Manchester City

One of his best performances was United’s win over City in the current 1st half of the Premier League season some three days after another exceptional performance in the Red devils home victory against Mourinho-led Tottenham.

Solskjaer said about Lingard:

“Jesse has had his ups and downs as I’ve spoken about before, but against City and Tottenham, two examples of how important he can be for us in difficult games. We want him back scoring and making assists,” the Norwegian boss told a press conference when quizzed on Lingard’s position at the club.

“There’s no one who runs as much, great trigger in the pressing, lively bubbly character, I don’t think you see as much social media from Jesse as you used to.

“He’s got his head down and working hard and getting back to the Jesse I knew.”
