Son Heung-Min Sidelined With Fractured Arm For Weeks

Son Heung-Min has been sidelined due to a fractured arm injury, meaning he will be joining up with teammate, Harry Kane on the treatment table.

The South Korean has added to the list of injury woes Jose Mourinho has had to contend with in the past few weeks.

The Lilywhites have already seen their talismanic forward, Kane undergo a surgery. Although initial reports suggested that the England International could be out till April, he now looks unlikely to meet that schedule. Indeed, the English striker might have to sit out the remaining part of the campaign.

Son Heung-Min had been helping to provide cover in the absence of Kane, scoring a brace against Villa with his second goal helping Spurs defeat the determined Villa side.

A statement on the North London outfit’s official website read:

“Heung-Min Son is to undergo surgery this week after sustaining a fracture to his right arm.

“The South Korea international suffered the injury during our win against Aston Villa on Sunday.

“Following surgery, our medical staff shall be reviewing management options for Son’s rehabilitation with the player expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks.”

Tottenham gaffer, Mourinho was unable to make any striker signings in January as a temporary replacement for the injured Kane.

The club made efforts to bring in a striker but they just couldn’t land any before the expiration of the January transfer window.

In the absence of Kane, Son has had to play a more central role while the likes of Moura, Dele Alli and Bergwijn have featured in more advanced roles.

Spurs would have to tweak their starting lineup once again to accommodate this blow, even as they prepare to take on RB Leipzig in their Champions League round-of-16 tie.
