Southampton will be looking to follow up their win at Leicester when they lock horns with Everton this time. The Merseyside haven’t been particularly impressive on the road with Richarlison netting last on Boxing Day.
The Saints have put up impressive performances since the take over of Hasenhüttl. Even so, they will face a tough test in the Evertonians.
Southampton have everything to lose in this one as they sit only one point above the relegation zone. They will therefore be poised to make a statement at home.
Infact, Hassenhuttl thinks the next four games beginning with the one against the Merseyside club will very much define where they end on the log by season’s end.
They are tipped by bookmakers to be on the front foot for this one as Marco Silva’s side haven’t won at the St. Mary’s since 2015.
Here’s a look at the club’s run of form
Despite the fact that the Saints are wasting away at the tail end of the log, the Merseyside club would be wary of the threat that the Saints pose. It’s the Premier League and results can go either ways.
Marco Silva will be expecting that big names – Andre Gomes, Lucas Digne and Richarlison turn up for the club.
Richarlison would have to net a goal here to reignite his confidence as the Brazilian hasn’t scored in the league since he last did on Boxing Day.
Marco Silva’s men have to get a win here as they can’t afford another slip-up against the Saints.
