Sowore: DSS Bailiff Prevents Bailiff from Serving Court Order

A bailiff of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Kenneth Kenter has revealed that he was prevented from serving on the Department of State Services (DSS) the court order for the release of the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore from the agency’s custody.
In the affidavit of “non-service” which he deposed to before the court’s Commissioner of Oath later in the day, Kenter said he visited the headquarters of the DSS at Aso Drive, Abuja, to serve the order twice, but was, on the two occasions denied access into the premises by the operatives of the security agency.
iDONSABI reported that Sowore was picked-up by the DSS on August 3, 2019, for calling for the protest. He was detained under the 2013 Terrorism Act.

However, a Federal High Court in Abuja on September 24, 2019, ordered his release to Femi Falana, his lawyer, who would provide him anytime he is needed by the court and dropped his international passport. However, as at Friday, he was still in DSS custody.
Falana had on Thursday expressed shock over DSS’ claim that it had not been served with the order issued by Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja granting bail to Sowore.
This is a reaction to the claim made by DSS’ Spokesperson, Dr. Peter Afunanya, who denied that the agency had been served with the court order,
According to Falana, Ayuba Adam of the Legal Department of the DSS received the court order on behalf of the agency on September 24, 2019 (Tuesday) and also noted that DSS’ lawyer was in court when Justice Taiwo issued the order.

Meanwhile, barely 24 hours to the expiration of the 45 days detention order gotten by the DSS to detain the publisher of SaharaReporters, the Attorney-General of the Federation’s office filed charges of treasonable felony, cybercrime offences and money laundering against him before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
