Sowore: DSS Fails to Comment Over Alleged Arrest of Activist

The Department of State Security (DSS) is yet to issue a statement over the arrest and the whereabouts of the Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore who was allegedly arrested by men of DSS in the early hours of Saturday.

It was gathered that Sowore, the publisher of SaharaReporters, an online media who is the convener of #RevolutionNow protest scheduled to hold nationwide on Monday, August 5, was arrested at his apartment in Lagos and taken to an unknown destination.

After his alleged arrest, it was reported that some activists have also been picked up at different locations in the country such as Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja and others over the planned nationwide civil unrest by the group

Prominent among those alleged to have been picked up by security agents is a popular Social Media activist in the North and supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Idris, popularly identified as “Dadiyata”, which the DSS in Kaduna state had refuted.

According to reports, the security agencies have placed several other activists, politicians, individuals and organisations on watch list following the renewed agitation against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari while security has been beefed up nationwide.
