Sowore to Supporters: They Have Done The Worst They Can Do, We Will Survive This [Video]

The convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, has called on his supporters to remain resolute and not give up on what he termed “a brand new Nigeria”.

He made the call in a short video recorded in the court on Friday during his appearance at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The clip was recorded before the trial.

iDONSABI reports that trial judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu granted him and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare bail. Aa crowd of supporters surrounded Sowore in the courtroom, accusing security operatives of intimidating him.

Visibly angered Sowore said, “Nobody can harass me. Under the military, we survived it; we will survive this one too.”

“It doesn’t matter how long it takes, we must persevere and ensure that we liberate ourselves. We must not give up.

“I am in high spirit, I am not afraid, I don’t care what they do. It is beyond Federalism. We need a brand new country, that’s what I’m about,” he said.

“The whole charges is around the fact that they are afraid. There is a new conscience in the country and Nigerians are now looking at alternatives.

“And they also didn’t want us to contest in the 2023 election,” he added.

Sowore’s bail conditions

The Federal Government had arraigned Sowore and Bakare on Monday on seven charges before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu.

The charges against the due include alleged conspiracy to commit treason and money laundering among others. They have been granted bail in the sum of N150 million.

The court also gave some conditions, which include depositing of their travel documents and their movement restricted to Abuja.

Some of the court staff and DSS personnel were trying as much as possible to stop people from recording. He told the DSS officials that they have done the worst they can do.

“You have done the worst you can do. This is an open court, you can’t intimidate me. Either you like it or not, this country will be liberated.”
