Sowore: What A Shame, Buhari Has Turned Has Turned DSS to Protesters’ Chasing Agency – Soyombo, Adeyanju React

Investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo says President Muhammadu Buhari has turned the Department of State Service (DSS) to an agency chasing away and dispersing harmless street protesters instead of focusing on the knottier issues of state security.

Soyombo who recently released a series of articles on his sojourn in the justice system where he revealed the rot in the system, via his latest tweet is on the heel of dispersing of protesters by the DSS with the use of live rounds and pepper spray lambasted the president for the action of the security agency.

“It will forever be engraved in Nigerian history that the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari witnessed the pathetic relegation of the DSS to an agency for chasing away & dispersing harmless street protesters instead of focusing on the knottier issues of state security. Shame!,” he tweeted.

Recall that the DSS has refused to releases the convener of Revolution Now protest, Omoyele Sowore, after he was arraign on treasonable felony amongst others with Olawale Bakare after meeting their bail conditions.

This has led to protest by Civil Society Groups at DSS headquarters.

Also reacting to the act that left a Guardian reporter injured and the alleged arrest of a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) official, human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, who led the protest calls for help to identify him and call for his release as well.

“Please, can you help us identify the Civil Defence guy arrested today at DSS for protesting with us? He walked up to me and introduced himself to me as one of my fans and said he can no longer take the impunity again. That he was willing to risk it all. #FreeSoworeNow,” he tweeted.
