Spain National Team Call-Up – Inspiring Story Of Santi Carzola

Santi Carzola is the new black, an inspiration for all peoples in all spheres of life. He has done the unfathomable, with the former Arsenal man earning a Spain National Team call-up after nearly having to quit football because of an injury he had to undergo 11 surgeries to overcome.

In a library packed with stories of epic injury comebacks for footballers, Santi’s should make the topmost shelf with the 34-yr-old earning a call-up after 636 days away from football. Even the most optimistic and enthusiastic set of fans wouldn’t have seen this coming.

Cazorla was told he might have to quit football  after an infection he had picked up on his foot. So grave was this injury that the leg was nearly amputated and some skin cut off from his arm was literally grafted onto his ankle.

The last time Cazorla played in the Spanish jersey,  Real Madrid had only one Chanpions League in the last decade and Donald Trump was nowhere near being President but the midfielder has picked up the scraps of his career and snuck himself into Spain’s 23-man squad.

The fabulous dribbler with aquiline passing vision would most likely represent Spain in their qualifiers against Faroe Islands and Sweden scheduled for next month.

Though this might be the midfielder’s last call-up to the National team, some playing time in the Euros would be the most satisfying ending to a career that would have nearly ended in a tragic tale.

Carzola has been terrific for Villareal this season, netting six goals in 44 appearances, 11 assists and is being led in chances created in the LaLiga only by Lionel Messi and Pablo Sarabia.

These stats are not only mind-boggling for a regular player who’s had a spectacular season but off-the-charts for a player who looked cooked the last time he adorned an Arsenal Jersey.

Carzola is a beast of a player who’s fought against all odds. This was Santi some 636 days ago, a bit of his left forearm on his right ankle, a piece of thigh in its place and the back of a leg in one heel.
