SS 2 Student Rescued After Attempting Suicide Over False Accusation

— An SS 2 student of Modibbo Aldama Girls Arabic Secondary School, Maruda in Sokoto state was rescued after attempting suicide.

— The 17 year old was accused of stealing N2000 naira and to be paraded in the school.

Aisha Ibrahim Isa of Modibbo Aldama Girls school was rescued after attempting suicide. The 17 year old ate torch light battery to avoid being paraded in the school.

The 17 year old with 2 other students were accused of stealing N2000 naira. Although she said she knew nothing about it, no one believed her. And it was said she would be paraded in school on Monday. She attempted suicide on Sunday.

She stated that two other people confessed to stealing the money in hostel. The young girl was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Hospital, Sokoto where the press spoke to her.

She said that even after her discharge from the hospital she wouldn’t be going back to the school. The accusation hurt her was painful for her.  She had sworn to the school that she didn’t take the money but no one believed her.

“I borrowed a torch light from one of my hostel mates with the intention to use it to light the toilet but removed one of the batteries, grinded and mixed it with water and drank it with the aim of committing suicide just to bring to end to my life over the allegation.” She said.
