Sterling Hatrick Does West Ham Dirty In Man City Emphatic Win

Raheem Sterling got Manchester City underway on their defence of the Premier League title with an overwhelming display capped off with a spectacular hatrick.

In a dominating display of the Citizens, West Ham were done dirty and swept under the bridge for the most parts of the game with the Premier League Champions not needing to shift out of second gear.

Indeed Englishman, Sterling who has seen a tremendous improvement under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola made it four goals in a week. How astounding!

Riyad Mahrez also played a huge part in the domineering display, having a hand in all four goals, passing, moving and drifting with the same elan he’s well known for.

In between all of this action, the Premier League saw the VAR operate for the very first time, disallowing a goal, commanding a penalty and ordering a penalty retake.

It was a breathtaking show of footballing command and controlled strength from the Citizens. West Ham aren’t the least aware of the threat that City attack pose altogether but it’s stopping those quick runs and exchange of passes that must have got West Ham manager, Manuel Pellegrini revisiting his study books for the best tactical changes or ploys to employ.

Pep Guardiola opted to start Gabriel Jesus and the Brazilian repaid the faith his manager had in him, penning down his name on the scoresheet first.

Few minutes after the break, Man City were two goals and who other than Sterling could deal such devastating blow.

Two minutes later, they went up 3-0 only for the goal to be scrapped off after VAR consultation.

For a while West Ham had regained composure and were aiming to press only to be pegged back by another goal after Sterling produced a lovely lobbed finish.

City were awarded a penalty and Fabianski had saved the ball only for a retake to ordered with Aguero tucking the ball into the net.

Just as the stadium was emptying, Raheem Sterling once again decided to make it a flurry of goals and a great statement to make of Game 1 fixture.
