Sule Lamido Also Talks About Atiku’s Citizenship

Alhaji Sule Lamido who served as a governor of Jigawa State Governor between 2007 and 2015, has described the recent contention about the citizenship of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar which started as a joke is currently threading on a dangerous path.

Alhaji Lamido who also acted as a Foreign Minister for Nigeria between 1993 – 2003 stated this while responding to the claims made by the solicitors of the All Progressives Congress claiming that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the just-concluded election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is not a citizen of Nigeria.

In his words: “My heart is pounding and I am beginning now to worry about Gaddafi’s prediction of doom about our dear Country, that Nigeria will break up!

“The debate about Atiku’s nativity/nationality which started as a hilarious light-hearted joke is now threading on a very dangerous divisive path and we must all rise to call ourselves to order otherwise the authority we have as nation within the African Union will be lost.

“If we do not like the children of those whose parents chose to join Lord Luguard’s assembled tribal natives called Nigeria, let us allow the former Northern and Southern Protectorates secede to form their own country.

He also referenced that if continue disrespecting ourselves, all in the name of politics, we would only lose the little respect we have left as a nation within the African Union, as well as the world at large.

“We cannot on account of politics continue demeaning each other. The little weight and authority we have within the African Union will be lost. To the rest of the world, whatever respect we have is out of shear courtesy,” Lamido mentioned.

He finally called on all members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to be united in purpose, otherwise Nigeria be dangerous place to live in. He also charged all Nigerians to move for restoring all that we have lost as a nation.
