Super Falcons Finally Get their Pay After Heated Protest

Super Falcons players and officials have finally been paid their bonuses as approved by the Federal Government. The Nigeria Football Federation had received the funds on Friday on behalf of the team and the monies has since been disbursed to the girls. 

NFF’s Head of Women’s Football, Ruth David, was quoted by the as saying:

“The bank accounts of the players and officials are being credited as we speak. They will all receive credit alerts of the monies due to them, as released by the Government, before the end of the day, (Saturday)” 

The funds being disbursed were bonuses for the Super Falcons’ participation at the 10th Women Africa Cup of Nations finals, which the team emerged triumphant after beating hosts Cameroon 1-0 in the final played in Yaounde earlier this month.

The Federal Government had also released funds, due to Super Eagles players and officials for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Algeria, which they Super Eagles had won 3-1.

It was revealed that each player of the Super Falcons’ had been paid the sum of #5,494,500, which was #600,000 less than the amount of  that was previously being paid to each of the Super falcons players by the NFF.

The amount paid the players is $17,900, which was converted to naira at the official rate of #305 to $1. The sum of #15,000 camp allowance and #20,000 transport allowance were also included in the pay.

Super Falcons Head Coach, Florence Omagbemi was paid the sum of #11,014,000 which is less the sum of #800,000 that paid to her earlier. Assistant coaches Ann Chiejine, Perpetua Nkwocha and Bala Mohammed, as well as the backroom staff were paid the sum of #8,274,250, which is #500,000 less than what had earlier been paid to each of them.

The equipment manager was also paid the sum of #4,114,625, which is less the #500,000 earlier paid to her by the Football Federation.

Finally our girls can smile after making us proud in Yaounde. Sadly, they had to protest in the sun to get this.
