The Fight Against COVID-19 Requires Everyone to Take Responsibility – Health Minister

The Health Minister, Dr Osagoe Ehanire has said the fight against COVID-19 pandemic requires everyone to take responsibility.

Speaking at a press conference, the minister said this means that all Nigerians need to adhere to government directives and follow the recommendations of washing their hands, coughing into your elbows and observing social distancing.

“All Nigerians are encouraged to adhere to government directives and follow the recommendations of washing your hands, coughing into your elbows and observing social distancing’.

“The fight against COVID19 will require everyone to take responsibility.”

While outlining the effort of the federal government towards COVID19 response including the N10 bn  given to Lagos State & N5bn Naira special intervention fund for Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to equip, expand and provide personnel to its facilities and labs nationwide, he said the Federal Ministry of Health is engaging with all the state governors to have isolation centres to reduce the spread of the dreaded virus.

“We are also actively working with NEMA to provide basic essentials for Nigerians in the event of the mandatory stay-at-home instructions,” he added.

Meanwhile,  there were 11 new cases of in the country yesterday with 8 in Lagos, 2 in Enugu and 1 in Edo State. 

With this development, there are 81 confirmed cases of COVID19 reported in Nigeria, with three discharged and one death.
