Thiago Silva, Neymar’s teammate for both club and country has backed the Brazilian to have an incredible season at the Parc des Princes in the face of ongoing speculation over his future.
Silva insists that Neymar is well aware of the mistakes he made his summer transfer window after a failed bid to return to the Camp Nou.
The superstar did not hide his intentions of moving back to the Camp Nou at the end of the 2018/19 campaign, just two years on from his world record switch to Paris Saint Germain.
Neymar moved to the Parc des Princes for a £200m fee in 2017, becoming the most expensive player in football’s long history. However, his stay in the Ligue 1 has been marred by a combination of off the field issues and a host of injuries.
Barcelona president, Josep Bartomeu revealed that the Blaugranas tried all reasonable best to bring the Brazilian back to the Camp Nou but a final deal agreement didn’t come to fruition.
The Spanish giants are not expected to make any bid for the 27-year-old in the January transfer window, meaning he could stay put at the Parc ses Princes till be beginning of a new season.
PSG and Brazil captain, Silva is adamant that Neymar isn’t the least aware of his wrongdoings but has taken responsibility for his actions.
The centre-back said: “He also knows that he has made mistakes but has no bad intentions. This boy is amazing, I hope he’s going to have a great season. It will be unforgettable too because the PSG will celebrate its 50 years.”
The captain says that PSG gaffer, Thomas Tuchel expects the winger to make a good impact this campaign following a turbulent year.
“Tuchel has always said he was counting on Neymar,” the defender added.
“If I do not say nonsense, he was already ready to play in the last match against Metz. But because of the situation on the transfer market, he had not played.
“But the coach could already count on him. So I think it’s important. Management also believes in him, otherwise, they would have let him go. We are happy about that.”
