Tierney And Bellerin Suffer Another Injury Bout Against West Ham

Arsenal suffered another injury blow as right back Kieran Tierney was forced off in Gunners away game at West Ham United.

The Scot lasted less than half an hour in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over the Hammers.

The defender was forced off due to what looked like a shoulder problem after a collision with Michail Antonio whilst defending a freekick by the Hammers.

Consequently, the Scotland International was replaced by Sead Kolasinac who was only given a spot on the bench some thirty minutes before kickoff with Hector Bellerin suffering an injury in the warm-up before the game.

Tierney’s game against West Ham is just his ninth start in the Gunners shirt since his £25 million ($30m) move from Celtic in August.

The Scot’s season has been hampered by injuries with the 22-year-old spending most of his time at the sidelines.

The former Celtic player arrived the Emirates Stadium still recovering from a hip injury that required a spell at the treatment table during the summer.

Consequently, the defender was unable to make his Arsenal debut until a Carabao Cup game against Nottingham forest afforded him the opportunity.

That said, the youngster has continued to struggle for fitness and as so has never been a regular in the Gunners red and white.

It was reported in the build-up that Tierney was struggling with a shoulder problem but interim boss, Freddie Ljunberg gave him the nod to start against West Ham.

Along with Tierney, the North Londoners will also be assessing Bellerin who has also been hampered by injuries, limiting him to just seven appearances this term. The French player is still struggling with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The double injury came as a bad news for the North London side who have gone winless in nine games, their worst run of form since 1977.

Luckily for the Gunners, they fought back valiantly to record a 3-1 win over West Ham.
