World-renowned Yoruba linguist and actor, Adebayo has died on the 22nd July, 2017 at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. He died at the age of 86 years after a reported brief illness. Among some of his notable achievements is the supposed translation of the Nigerian national anthem from English to Yoruba language. Notably, governors from 3 Southwest states paid tributes to him.

The governor of Lagos state, Akinwumi Ambode has praised the All Progressives Congress for recording a landslide victory in the Lagos State Council Polls. The party won the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state. A woman simply identified as Mama Moyin has lost her life in the recent building collapse which occurred at Meiran in Lagos State. The incident which occurred in the early hours of Saturday just before the commencement of the LG polls resulted in huge casualty as officials of the Lagos State Emergency Response Unit and well-wishers thronged the site to rescue the victims.
Oyo Commits large percentage of Paris Club Refund to Recurrent Expenditure
The Oyo State Government has said that up to 60% of the N7.9bn it got as proceeds from the Paris Club refund will go into paying workers salary arrears as well as pension of retirees. This was made known by the Commissioner for Finance in the state, Mrs Abimbola Adekanmbi during a radio program in Ibadan which is the capital city.

The herbalist who is based in Ogun state was charged with obtaining money under false pretense and will be made to face the full weight of the law.
Mob Strips Female Kidnapper in Lagos
An irate mob has stripped a suspected kidnapper in the Ajao area estate of Lagos on Monday. The suspect who was accused of hypnotizing a teenage girl around the Ajao estate for the purpose of performing money rituals could be seen parading the streets unclad in the early hours of Monday as the mob followed her behind.
