PDP: Osinbajo Mere Figurehead

The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party has described the acting president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo as a mere figurehead wielding no real political powers. In a statement credited to the spokesman of the party by a leading print media outlet, Adeyeye doubted if truly the ailing president, Muhammadu Buhari handed over power to Osinbajo.


We Cannot Vet Donations- Catholic Church

The leadership of the Catholic Church has issued a counter statement claiming that it would be very difficult for the religious body to vet donations it receives. Rather, the body is focused on winning souls which is the primary responsibility; everything else comes after. This follows the recent killings in a Catholic Church in Anambra, where several church goers were slain in cold blood. The attack which led to the death of scores of people is believed to be over a drug deal involving the church’s principal donor.


Falana: Police Irresponsible towards “OurMumuDonDo” Protesters

Famous Nigeria lawyer and human rights activist, Chief Femi Falana has described the activities of men of the Nigerian Police in attacking protesters who asked the ailing president, Muhammadu Buhari to resume or resign as largely irresponsible and uncalled for. Despite efforts by the security forces to suppress protesters in the “Resume or Resign Campaign”, there has been no going back as protesters argue that Buhari is holding Nigeria to ransom.


Lassa Fever: Disease Continues to Spread in Southwest

The dreaded Lassa fever which is caused by a virus and presents with typical symptoms of the hemorrhagic fevers continues to spread in the southwest. This is as reports have confirmed that a total of three doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital are infected with many more under close watch. More so, the Ogun State government confirmed it had placed about 106 individuals under close surveillance.


Kidnappers Apprehended along Ibadan- Ijebu Ode Road

Atiku Decries Quit and Counter Quit Notices

The former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has decried the recent spate of hate speeches and ethnic-driven comments in the country. This is as several groups in the southern part of the country have issued counter quit notices to the Arewa group. Recall that the whole scenario played out when a coalition of Northern youths issued a statement asking Igbos residents to vacate the region before October 1.


LASG Arrests Eight LASTMA Officials

The Lagos State Government has arrested about eight Lagos State Traffic Management Officials in a swing operation spearheaded by the provost marshal of the organization, Mr. Femi Ajibosho. The eight LASTMA staff members were said to have been involved in bribery, allegedly collecting N7200 from two bus drivers in the Agege Pen Cinema Area of the state.


Akeredolu Promises to Rehabilitate Igbonla Kidnappers

The governor of Ondo State has promised to bring kidappers of the Lagos school children to dropping arms. This followed a meeting between Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and the leaders of the Pan Niger Delta Elders Forum (PANDEF) behind closed doors in the Aso Rock. The FG is set to recommence the amnesty program for militants including the abductors of the Lagos school pupils.

In commemoration of the International Youths Day, newly acquired giant telecommunications agency 9mobile has congratulated Nigerian youths. Recall that Etisalat pulled out of operations in Nigeria owing to a huge debt profile recorded in about nine commercial banks in the country, which gave room for a consortium of companies to acquire the telecoms giants.
