PDP: Osinbajo Mere Figurehead

The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party has described the acting president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo as a mere figurehead wielding no real political powers. In a statement credited to the spokesman of the party by a leading print media outlet, Adeyeye doubted if truly the ailing president, Muhammadu Buhari handed over power to Osinbajo.

Rather, the body is focused on winning souls which is the primary responsibility; everything else comes after. This follows the recent killings in a Catholic Church in Anambra, where several church goers were slain in cold blood. The attack which led to the death of scores of people is believed to be over a drug deal involving the church’s principal donor.

Famous Nigeria lawyer and human rights activist, Chief Femi Falana has described the activities of men of the Nigerian Police in attacking protesters who asked the ailing president, Muhammadu Buhari to resume or resign as largely irresponsible and uncalled for. Despite efforts by the security forces to suppress protesters in the “Resume or Resign Campaign”, there has been no going back as protesters argue that Buhari is holding Nigeria to ransom.

 

Lassa Fever: Disease Continues to Spread in Southwest

LASG Arrests Eight LASTMA Officials

The Lagos State Government has arrested about eight Lagos State Traffic Management Officials in a swing operation spearheaded by the provost marshal of the organization, Mr. Femi Ajibosho. The eight LASTMA staff members were said to have been involved in bribery, allegedly collecting N7200 from two bus drivers in the Agege Pen Cinema Area of the state.

 

Akeredolu Promises to Rehabilitate Igbonla Kidnappers

The governor of Ondo State has promised to bring kidappers of the Lagos school children to dropping arms. This followed a meeting between Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and the leaders of the Pan Niger Delta Elders Forum (PANDEF) behind closed doors in the Aso Rock. The FG is set to recommence the amnesty program for militants including the abductors of the Lagos school pupils.
