Tottenham Lacking In FirePower To Stop A Vibrant Ajax Team

For Tottenham and numerous fans of the North London club, what went on with them in the encounter was a total humiliating show, a memory they would plead to forget in a jiffy.

Apparently, Tottenham would like to think they still have something in this game for them with memories of Manchester City who got them this far still clear in their minds.

It was this mesmerizing, heart wrenching play which brought about the first goal and in truth they dominated possession and all the other football statistics available on the catalogue before this sitter.

In the 15th-minute, Hakim Ziyech had a moment of brilliance which birthed the goal. The African sent in a killer pass to 22-yr-old Van de Beek who swiveled past Tottenham’s defence after Danny Rose failed to clear the pass sent through to Beek.

The 22-yr-old then brilliantly made two fakes to get Lloris to the ground before slotting it into the left corner of the goal.

Tottenham also had their own fair share of chances with Llorente nodding wide of the upright before a head injury to Vertonghen made them short on defenders.

Ajax would have loved to make things more than comfortable for them in the second leg encounter after Neres shot at the upright against the run of play after the break, but it wasn’t to be.

Although, Tottenham had greatly improved after the break, poor showing from players like Dele Alli and Eriksen couldn’t compliment the fine game that Lucas Moura or Moussa Sissoko – substitute for Vertonghen – were having.
