Tottenham Vs Man United – Post Match Report

A lovely night at Wembley and what other way to mark it than Manchester United recording their 6th straight win in all competitions over a Harry Kane led Tottenham. This win has seen Manchester United move just within 4th-placed Arsenal.

As we had discussed earlier in our preview heading in to this game. It was going to be a game of Solksjaer, the interim manager and Pochettino who is wanted by the board to take charge at Old Trafford, or so it seemed. However, it all boils down to what happens in the field of play. Solksjaer was on hand to show the stuff he is made of.

That said, De Gea must be praised for his heroics in between the sticks for Manchester United. The Spaniard made a total number of 11 saves against the Lilywhites. Incredible right? Right.

Let’s get to the details of the only goal in this match. A goal by Rashford. It was all that made the difference. Was it produced from a show of individual brilliance? That’s definitely not the case here.

A clever tactical tweak was made by United’s Interim manager. Jesse Lingard was deployed as a false nine in the final third. A rare move I must say.

The English man dropped back to intercept a pass from Kierran Trippier, the ball fell to Paul Pogba who was on the left this time rather than his no. 10 role just behind the strikers. The French man then sent in a fine flighted cross field pass to Rashford.

The Englishman still had a lot of work to do nonetheless. He raced towards goal from the right flank beating Jan Vertonghen with his light pacing speed before driving a right footed shot far from the reach of Hugo Lloris. It was a combination of pace, movement and precision all in one strike.

The Spurs came out in the second half firing all cylinders against De Gea but the Spaniard was on hand to make it a perfect clean sheets. Eyes, feet, hands, you name it! all were on deck. De Gea wouldn’t see the ball move past him into the goal.

A perfect piece of football from the red devils. Tottenham 0-1 Manchester United.
