Transfer Window Live – News And Rumours – Day 16

It’s day 16 of the transfer window and iDONSABI updates you on the transfer stories making the rounds within and all around Europe. Today’s focus is on the future of Pedro Obiang and Claude Puel.

West Ham Rejects Bid For Pedro Obiang

According to Skysports, West Ham have shoved aside a €10m from Fiorentina for Pedro Obiang. Although, the African has made a total of 18 appearances this term, it is however apparent that he isn’t Manuel Pellegrini first choice midfielder.

Pellegrini has favoured a Noble-Rice defensive partnership this term. This is so for plausible reasons, 19-yr old Rice doubles as a holding midfielder and is so preferred over the 26 yr-old. Recall also that, Rice has just recently come off the back of scoring the only goal in the game against Arsenal last time out. There’s no way Obiang is coming back into this team setup, at least, not so soon.

It however remains unclear whether the Hammers will be willing to sell if a possible replacement is gotten. In any case, the player isn’t going to be sold soon.

What this deal could mean?

If a deal is accepted for the 26 year old, the Hammers would have to line up a possible replacement to give the squad depth. Injuries to Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere have left West Ham short of midfield options.

Consequently, it is unlikely that a deal is accepted for the Equatoguinean.

Leicester Board Close To Pulling the Plug on Claude Puel

The future of Leicester manager, Claude Puel is in serious threat as the Foxes line up a possible replacement for the French gaffer. Last year, it was reported by the Dailymail that Puel could lose his job to Thierry Henry. However, Thierry Henry is now AS Monaco’s boss and seems unlikely to make a return to England as Leicester’s boss.

Rafael Benitez is in pole position to claim the job this time. The Newcastle Manager has been heralded for keeping the Magpies in the league and off the relegation zone inspite of a shoestring budget.

Rafa Benitez, for plausible reasons may be tempted by a move to the King Power Stadium. This is owing to the fact that the ambitious Foxes are willing to spend more.

What this deal could mean?

If this deal comes true, we could see Rafael Benitez take this team to great heights, even close to heights achieved.
