Transfer Window Live – News And Rumours – Day 22

It’s day 12 of the transfer window and iDONSABi takes you through all the transfer stories aking the rounds all across Europe. Today’s edition focuses on Kevin-Prince Boateng move to Barcelona.

Ghana International, Boateng Moves To Camp Nou

Ghana International and brother to Bayern Munich’s Boateng, Kevin-Prince Boateng, has made a move to Barcelona from former club, Sassuolo.

In a shocking deal, Barcelona has made a loan move for Boateng with an option to buy for £7.1m during the summer. Boateng has previously played for Tottenham, Hertha Berlin, Dortmund (loan), Portsmouth. He also had two spells at AC Milan and has also played for Las Palmas, Frankfurt and Schalke.

The 31-yr-old will put pen to paper today before a photo session and press conference at the Camp Nou. This move is all the more surprising because Kevin-Prince is a known fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, many wonder what Valverde’s plans could be for the 31-yr-old.

What the deal could mean?

It could see Boateng playing a false-9 role at Barcelona, a position he has impressed in this term. The striker has notched 5 goals in five appearances for Sassuolo this season in spite of missing several weeks due to a pelvic injury.

Barcelona are short of attacking options this term with Paco Alcacer departing to Borussia Dortmund and Munir El-Haddadi leaving for Sevilla. They would therefore need some cheap alternative option to Luis Suarez, so that the Uruguayan could be rested for more important competitions.

That said, it is highly unlikely that the Catalans would make a permanent move for Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Recall that Messi, earlier in the season, said the Champions league was priority for he and the club.

Although, Barcelona have performed better than their Madrid counterparts in the Laliga, it is Real who have been more successful in the last four years in Europe. The Blaugranas have won four UCL trophies in the last five years.
