Tribunal: Buhari Will Lose If PDP Lawyers Sit in Supreme Court Judges’ Stead – APC Chieftain

  • APC would only lose at the apex court if lawyers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were sitting in the stead of judges.
  • Dismissed allegation of interference in judiciary citing the case of Rivers and Zamfara states as examples.

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Cletus Obun has expressed confidence that his party will win again at the Supreme Court.

Speaking on the judgement of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal which affirmed President Muhammadu Buhari’s election, Obun said the APC would only lose at the apex court if lawyers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were sitting in the stead of judges.

Obun pointed during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics that the ruling party remains unbothered by the decision of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to challenge the Tribunal’s ruling as the judgement, for them, is perfect.

Her further stated that the APC is suffocated with confidence there is nothing to worry about.

“There must be an end to litigation. Until maybe we have to get PDP lawyers as judges so that we can now satisfy them, otherwise what we have now is mere perfect, impregnable and completely unassailable in law and in fact.”

It could be recalled that PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the PDP challenged the election of President Buhari at the Tribunal, saying he did not qualify to contest the February 23 poll, among other prayers.

A five-man panel of judges on Wednesday in a unanimous judgement ruled that the President was eligible to run and that he won the election.

Speaking on the alleged interference in the judiciary by the Presidency, Obun who dismissed claims highlighted the situation where the PDP was declared the winner of the elections in Zamfara State after the APC had won in the election and also noted that while supporters were celebrating the President’s victory at the Tribunal, party members in Cross River were sad that they lost in court.

“This President, I insist, in our political history is the first incumbent president who allows and has given open space to everybody to play his game otherwise, you cannot have the President’s party not qualified to run an election … to the point that they even won an election and we were taken out of government, as it happened in Zamfara.”

This country is rottened and I have no confidence in the judiciary. A country where junks are brought in to manage great talents and that is why you wouldn’t get anything but monkey results. We celebrate incompetence and mediocrity on the alter of national cake ?.

Am disappointed with the position of a chieftain of the APC in Cross River State Mr Obun who cited the case of Zamfara as a reason for saying that Buhari is a man of integrity. Has he forgotten that the Zamfara situation was an intra party issue? As to the issue of the supreme Court case of the PDP he is saying unless if the judges are PDP members he is confident Buhari will win. This is suprising to hear that from a highly placed person. The thing is that the evils perpetrated by the Judiciary in the land MUST affect ALL Nigerians if not now it will happen in no distant time. He expressions are baseless and of no effect at all.
