Two NYSC Members Killed During Robbery Operation in Bayelsa State

6 persons suspected to be armed robbers on Wednesday, March 20th, stormed the residence of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members along School Road in the Swali area of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, killing two persons, leaving one other severely injured also.

One of the late corps member, identified as Popoola Oluwatobi Olamide was a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) while the other dead corps member, who could not be quickly identified, was known to have struggled with his murderers and sustained bullet injuries but passed on while he was on his way to the hospital for medical treatment.

A neighbour who lives close to where the incident occurred said in a statement:

”We heard the gunshot from the direction of the corps members’ room. One of them was heard shouting ‘Jesus!’ repeated times and asking what was their crime. Another shot sounded and he stopped talking”

In addition, the neighbour also further gave an explanation that the deceased corps members, who were attached to a private school known as Victory Group of Schools, close to their residence were marking exam scripts before the robbery attack occurred along School Road in the Swali area of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
