Usain Bolt Calls Quit On Footballing Career
Eight-time Olympic sprint winner and world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt has called it quit on his pro-football career. The 32-yr-old had always shown interest in playing football whilst still active on track. Albeit showing interest in playing for Manchester United, he instead got a trial at Australian side Central Coast Mariners which he took a go at – after spells in four other clubs.
The Jamaican has given up on post-athletics after his club side failed to find financial banking for a professional deal according to a report by BBC Sport. Bolt spent two months training with his club side before calling it quit.
“It was fun while it lasted”, “I don’t want to say it wasn’t dealt with properly, but I think we went about it not the way we should”, said the world’s fastest man.
Usain Bolt garnered interest from several clubs with Maltese Club, Valletta one of the Jamaican’s admirers. Bolt however declined a move to the Maltese side because of it’s inability to meet his wage demands. He instead opted to move to A-league side, Central Coast Mariners.

That said, it must be noted that the Jamaican also trained with Norwegian side, Stromsgodset and German club, Borussia Dortmund before moving to far-away Australia.
‘Lightning Bolt’ as called by fans, scored two goals for his club side in a friendly against amateur side, Macarthur South West celebrating with his popular trademark lightning bolt pose.
Bolt who retired from athletics in 2017 has decided to face his commercial endeavors and keeping his hands off active sport activities.
Usain isn’t the only all-time great to switch sports interest. NBA great, Michael Jordan, after winning his third championship for the Chicago Bulls took a temporary break from basketball and when on to play minor-league baseball for a year and half.
Although, he came back to Basketball unlike in the case of Bolt. It however still remains unclear to lots of basketball fans why he quit in the first place.
